Cowboys (0-0) at Giants (0-0)
The Cowboys biggest strength in this game is going to be Rob Ryan's defense going up against a quarterback that is usually on the wrong end of too many interceptions. If the Cowboys can lock down their coverage and maintain a solid pass rush Eli is going to fold like he has so many times before. The biggest problem for the 'Boys is going to be their offensive line and having any sort of pass blocking, or even run blocking. The Cowboys offensive line has never stepped onto the gridiron as a unit which leaves some very big question marks. I think if the Cowboys want to get off on the right foot this season it is going to need to be quick screen passes, and opening holes for DeMarco Murray to squeeze through. Romo has the ability to place some nice passes given the time and going against a Giants secondary that might be a little injury prone and shaky to start the season he has a shot at hitting Dez or Miles for a few big plays. His offensive line just needs to hold off the best front seven in the game long enough to let him air it out.
The Giants have a lot going for them heading into this game. Superbowl Champions after having one of the most impressive playoff runs in recent history (if you ask me.) How did they do it? Defense. Look at the front seven for the Giants. Yeah, Romo's sleeping with the lights on tonight. They are going to be giving him nightmares for weeks, if not years. The Giants offense has some of their key weapons back, Nicks (if healthy) can be a dangerous deep threat, and Cruz is just more of the same. They may have lost Jacobs as Bradshaw's backup in free agency, but they picked up rookie Wilson who looks more than comfortable sharing some of the load. The Giants are going to rely on their pass rush to disrupt any rythm that Romo can find, and hopefully get to him quickly. Their starting corner, Amukamara, is battling a high ankle sprain, which could mean daylight for Dez Bryant, or double coverage which will open up another receiver somewhere else on the field. It's all on the defensive front seven this game, and they are more than capable of pulling it off.
The season opener is going to be a good one. The Giants and Cowboys faced eachother twice in the last few weeks of last years regular season and it only added more fuel to the fire of an already heated divisional rivalry. Look for big plays on both sides of the ball for both teams, because that's what this game is going to be all about.
When it's all said and done Tom Coughlin's Giants are going to start the season with a big win over Tony Romo's Cowboys. Giants win 27-17
